  • 12 October 2012

Dr. Elsa Estevez from the UNU-IIST Center for Electronic Governance taught a one-week course "Electronic Governance - A Technological Perspective" at the International School on Informatics, Bahia Blanca, Argentina, 8-12 October 2012. The school was organized as part of the 18th Argentinean Congress on Computer Sciences, CACIC 2012.

Attended by 36 computer science students from 12 national universities all over Argentina, the course explained the principles and practice of Electronic Governance - technology-enabled transformation of the working of government organizations and their relationships with citizens, businesses and one another - in order to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and efficacy of government operations and to engage citizens in formulating and implementing government policies and decisions concerning them. The course also explained in what sense Electronic Governance transcends technological, managerial and policy concerns, what the role of informatics professionals is, and how the students develop meaningful informatics-related careers as well as contribute to the country and society in this area.
