International center of excellence in Electronic Governance, part of United Nations University - International Institute for Software Technology (UNU-IIST), located in Macao SAR , China.

The mission, activities and Objective of the Center are as follows:

Mission

To build capacity and provide know-how and advice in planning, implementing and evaluating programs for Electronic Governance, particularly in developing and transition countries.

Activities

The core activities of the center focuses on building a state of the Art practice on Electronic Governance, especially focusing on the needs and requirements of developing countries. With this objective, several training and capacity development programs were carried out in cooperation with research institutions and governments in Argentina, Nigeria, Kenya, Mongolia, South Korea, Korea (DPR), Nepal and India.

The center organizes the annual International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance – ICEGOV, which has become the major global framework for knowledge exchange, networking and collaboration of various stakeholders working on eGovernance.

Objectives

To realize its mission, the Center:

1) Engages in applied and policy research

2) Conducts various forms of development - software development, good practice development, human capacity development, institutional development, and development of communities of practice

3) Works in partnership with institutions from developing countries, other centers of excellence, and international and UN organizations
